The beloved Big Bear bald eagle believed to be Jackie is reportedly underweight and can only eat with assistance, according to local environmental nonprofit Friends of Big Bear Valley, after an altercation with two other eagles Friday, July 17.

I have been watching Jackie and Shadow and their family. I have learned a lot about eagles. I am still so amazed by their parenting skills and their dedication and love they give to each other and their eaglets. Such devotion is sometimes not seen in humans. Hello Jackie, I fell in love with you and Shadow after the Ravens destroyed your eggs and you laid 2 more, Sandy and Luna. Shadow helped you just like a mate is supposed to do, he sat on the eggs while you got food and sometimes didn't want to get up, which meant that He was vested in their growth. The Easter Eve, one was hatched and on Easter day, the other was hatched, that's when my love for all of you took root. I have watched every day, every week, since and talk about you, Shadow, Luna and Sandy like you are part of my family! You have got to ge6 better Sandy, Shadow is hurting and the young eagles! Hi there Momma Jackie! 2 years ago if someone told me that I would be sending get well wishes to a bird, I would have told them they were crazy! I'm from Alaska. I've seen hundreds of bald eagles. I've heard eaglets chirping in the trees. I was awe struck by their grace and majesty. But I never got attached to them. I stumbled across this beautiful family and I was hooked. Prayers for you, your family that is missing you, FOBBV who have graciously let me watch your beautiful family and everyone, and I mean EVERYONE involved with your care. From the veterinarians, laboratory personnel, radiology department, receptionists, social media reporters, custodial staff, handlers, those helping find nutritional food for her, drivers, couriers, etc. I know that I left some of the team out and I apologize for that. And a HUGE shout out to Spirit for donating blood. Get well my feathered friend 🧡 I will be on the sidelines cheering you and your family on.

I’m a retired bird keeper from the San Diego Zoo and I cared for most of the birds there for decades My favorite was the bald eagles for awhile and have watched Jackie and Shadow over the years and glad the world experiences how nature when in the wild is worth fighting for with not only bald eagles but all those who participate in conservation of habitats

Dearest sweet Jackie. I only found your live cam last year, but have been glued to it, watching you keeping your eggs warm, the babies hatching and how you and beloved, Shadow, care for them. The look on your and Shadow's faces when looking at your young babies is incredible. Last year when one of your juveniles had a sqweeing fit in the nest, you or Shadow remained calm, even looking closer to find the problem. It was amazing to see how you didn't get upset or fly away. The sqweeing was rather long and very loud. I have learned so much watching you, your family and your nest, that I would not have ever known if it wasn't for your live cam. I Love you, Jackie, and All of your babies and your main man, Shadow. I keep praying for your healing, recovery, and return to your nest area, as soon as able. My mother was an avid bird watcher (note my name!). She discovered the FBBV cam very early on and loved watching the webcams, day and night, right up until the night before she passed. Every day began for her with checking in-toward the end I learned to connect the tv to the internet so she could watch for hours… the joy you brought into her life will remain with me the rest of my life.
